Strangely both bikes ate the same weight even with the mudguards, rack and adjustable stem.
They claimed an rrp of £565 though I imagine a usual price would have been 3 to 4 hundred.

Not directly bike-related, but useful to many of us......... just bought from Lidl a vernier calliper for £9.99. I already have one from a few years ago, but it eats batteries (and they aren't readily available). The new one takes CR2032 batteries, so IMHO it was worth buying as it will 'pay for itself'. I hate waste, but what can I do with the old one?

Take the battery out between uses, those things do not fully switch off so the battery runs down without the calipers being used.

Keep the old one, but don't leave the battery in it. Despite having an off button, they're always on.

Great teardown on the really cheap eBay ones, and how they work - I found this fascinating! 🤓

Miche Graff Sub Compact Chain set - 30/46 Perfect for light/medium weight touring when combined with 11/34 cassette

https://thecycleclinic.co.uk/produc...-chainset-double?_pos=14&_sid=270ead821&_ss=r

NOTE - it will fit a standard 24mm Shimano or Hope BB, but it is a "very" tight fit that will most certainly involve a piece of wood and a hammer. However, the issue isn't getting it in, its getting the bugger back out again, trust me!

Better to purchase the Miche BB for either £25 or the one with much better bearing for £55

Seen a few of them, but the "off set" 4 arm chainrings are putting me off for my CX bike. Think I'll stick with the FSA compact on a 46x32, with a standard, and cheap BCD of 110 and FIVE ARM.

I have had one fitted to my touring bike for just under a year, and I cannot fault it to be honest. Coupled with a 11sp 11/34 cassette is pretty much bang on for light touring with the odd steep climb thrown in.....
