At the weekend visited the local 99p store (High Wycombe). Picked up an LED head lamp for how much? Three guesses. Thought that will be useful for reading the route sheet in the dark. Needs 3 AAA batteries. Comes with strap but I probably use a cable tie to fix on the helmet. At that price one could get a few spares. Definitely bright enough for the purpose.

"Cart" is common terminology on ecommerce websites.

I bought a 3w cree 2 x aa torch last year and it is really good. Flashing or constant mode, sits on my helmet. I expect these 5w jobbies will be as good.

Noticed this http://www.screwfix.com/p/maglite-m2a01l-mini-2-x-aa-torch/16138# in the screwfix catalogue, not sure how it compares brightness wise with the Aldi but maglite are usually well built and looks like it will fit nicely in the velcro type handle bar mount.

This is only of any use if you live close to Rutland but Cavells on South St are having a sale, Icebreaker Merino long and short sleeves at 260 and 200 weights are on sale for £10. I went last year and grabbed a couple then. Also thick Merino socks 3 pairs for £10 plus loads of hats, t-shirts, coats, fleeces etc.
