A chain lasts me several years minimum on each bike why would I want 5 to get free postage?!

I'm not saying you have to buy 5 at a time, that's up to you, just pointing out that they are about half the normal price from other suppliers (that you would still probably have to pay p&p). I go through a couple a year so always grab a few when they're cheap!

I'd like to know how Vickster makes chains last so long, when the rest of us use multiples each year?

6 bikes so probably don't put 1000 miles a year on any one of them, mix of 9/10/11 speed too ;) And mostly a fair weather rider so they don't get especially dirty

Morning,

There is also this https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/p/vitus-razor-road-bike-claris
v1.png
For £360 alu/cf frame and Claris/Tektro/Prowheel Ounce (ouch!, the last time I saw one of those was on an Argos [catalogue, not Bristol] bike)

Oh yes, the saddle will need an upgrade as it is Saddle: Vitus, Steel Rail not even cr-mo, that's a waste of 20g.

The only issue is that there are no size large, there are xs,s,m and xl (which isn't that all that much extra)

Bye

With new bikes available at that sort of money you can see why second hand ones don't sell

Good morning,

I was thinking about buying this,

As a source of almost new everything and putting it all onto another frame to make a really terrible weather commute bike, seems like a dumb option now, especially as it is also up with a BIN of £349.

Okay the size makes it a bit of a hard sell but I am getting used to seeing the listing.

Looking at Halfords new Carreras have crept up, the road versions of the Virtuoso and Vanquish are now £435 and £485. The Vanquish comes in at 10.5kg, although this is not really heavy, given the aluminium frame and CF forks are there some really cheap and nasty bits?

At the full £599 the Vitus still looks okay, so is the sale price a normal stock clearance price or has the demand dried up.

A chap I know volunteers at a bike charity about 15 miles from me and he says drop bar bikes simply don't move in that area, only MTBs, Hybrids and BMXs.

Bye
