Not if you want cheap tyres and care if the business stays in business. All of those staff costs have to paid from turnover

Or rather, they have to be paid from gross margin. Doesn't matter if they have high turnover if their sums don't allow enough to pay workers properly. Turnover is vanity, profit is sanity.

And sometimes there's an argument that we might be better off if warehouse businesses paying zero-hour casual staff minimum (or less) were replaced by more traditional high-street shops. The high cost of low-price, and so on. It's sometimes difficult to know who to buy from for the best, but this is the bargains thread, not an ethical shopping one.

You're probably asking the wrong person. I commented in abstract. But my impression of Ribble is of inconsistent service and a quick web search finds plenty of comments from disgruntled ex-workers like "Minimum wage - maximum work". I don't know why @sevenfourate mentioned it about them in particular.

I commented on their business ethics from what was stated and experienced here. Likely backed up by a few reviews I’ve read myself. And the odd time I’ve ordered from them…..

And this because I’ve run a very busy, successful and still thriving company for 25 years; and well realise everything it entails to do that. Not treating your customers like ‘they’ do being both basic and primary. And if they are happy to allow that to happen; nothing else thereafter surprises me……

And I’ve religiously used Duracell with no issues either. But looking on eBay / Amazon etc (And presuming the
Varta are worth the premium - Their car batteries are definitely good 👍) then the price is fantastic 🙏

Or the little matter of the distance away. Just picked up a pack from Screwfix, expiry date May 2032. Then wandered into B&Q where the same four pack is £7.45
