@tribanjules, your going to cost me a small fortune looking at there sale
Accessories!

Told you, tempted by the Coleman Cortes for £44.99, which retails elsewhere for about £80.

I like Coleman tents - generally decent no nonsense things, but would avoid that - unless it's another of Planet X's copywriting mistakes - it says it has fibereglass poles - ally far better I think and far easier to fix if there's a breakage - generic spare sections easily found/taken with you and cut to length if needed.

From same planetX offer.

£14.99 for MTB shoes - if they have your size.

Don't look too different from some I have from Spesh and Lake.

Out of interest anyone got any ? - I may be interested if they come round again in my size on offer.

For that price they are really good.

I bought a pair of their 'fully loaded' set earlier in the year and while the sole is really really stiff on them (if you like stiff soles with little to no flex) the rest of the materials on the shoe feels cheap.

The PU leather they use will wear or deteriorate and possibly crack very quickly depending on weather conditions as ive had work shoes made of them before so ymmv. Would recommend you use a clean cloth/microfiber towel or some cotton and rub some non gloss/mat finish shoe polish or leather wax on the shoes just to preserve the faux leather a bit - I wouldnt use a stiff brush to polish the shoes as you do with your parade shoes as it will add wear on the faux leather.

I paid £60-70 (for the fully loaded) on a flash sale. They normally retail for just under £100. Build quality generally looks to be very good except that i have a random thumb print at the bottom of my shoe from someone's thumb when they use superglue or resin to stick the carbon fiber sole back together when it cracked in one area

Only worn them around the house to break them in a little as im saving them for the warmer months to come.

My Lake shoes are essentially cheapy looking plastic on top and seem OK, though admittedly haven't worn them a massive amount.
Have sometimes wondered about shoe-polishing plastic - sometimes because it can be hard to tell with some stuff whether it's plastic or leather.
Which are the "fully loaded"?
mm - wearing cycling shoes/clobber round the house? - possibly a worrying sign?

(tho the majority of the clothes I've bought last few years are probably cycling togs)

Fully loaded - would not pay £100 for these, ever. shimano shoes around £80 would be made with better quality and more durable materials than these but you most definitely wouldnt get the super stiff carbon sole with it.

I was looking at the Shimano SH-XC-3/XC-300 and XC-100 shoes (I think the XC-100 may be a little overpriced for what they are...) before the fully loaded came up.

As for wearing cycling shoes around the house - the treds on them are made of rubber which can be replaced (another cost cutting and also silly decision. £100 MTB shoes with soft rubber treds.... Guess im going to go MTB'ing on astroturf ) at least i can walk on pavements & slippery supermarket floors without feeling like im on ice skates no more ^_^ - which was a small issue with my XC-61's

They are safer to wear around a house with hard wood flooring compared to my outgoing XC-61's that have treds made of hard plastic.

thanks for considered reply roubaix - though these days I avoid shoes with clever closure systems (ever since someone on a ride I was leading crashed into me and smashed one of mine on a pair of speshes - ) - latter shimanos look good.

back to bargains.
