My Lake shoes are essentially cheapy looking plastic on top and seem OK, though admittedly haven't worn them a massive amount.
Have sometimes wondered about shoe-polishing plastic - sometimes because it can be hard to tell with some stuff whether it's plastic or leather.
Which are the "fully loaded"?
mm - wearing cycling shoes/clobber round the house? - possibly a worrying sign?
(tho the majority of the clothes I've bought last few years are probably cycling togs)
Fully loaded - would not pay £100 for these, ever. shimano shoes around £80 would be made with better quality and more durable materials than these but you most definitely wouldnt get the super stiff carbon sole with it.
I was looking at the
Shimano SH-XC-3/XC-300 and
XC-100 shoes (I think the XC-100 may be a little overpriced for what they are...) before the fully loaded came up.
As for wearing cycling shoes around the house - the treds on them are made of rubber which can be replaced (another cost cutting and also silly decision. £100 MTB shoes with soft rubber treds....

Guess im going to go MTB'ing on astroturf

) at least i can walk on pavements & slippery supermarket floors without feeling like im on ice skates no more

- which was a small issue with my XC-61's
They are safer to wear around a house with hard wood flooring compared to my outgoing XC-61's that have treds made of hard plastic.
