Ooooooooooo, that was almost 1-1... Defence was asleep.

That's what I mean. The VAR has to be used if and when there's a disputable or doubtful moment of play, particularly if a goal has/hasn't been scored.

From what I gather, the VAR officials are constantly providing feedback, but I think there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Would like to see each team get, say, three opportunities to ask for a review per half, with an extra one added if a game goes to extra time.

The 3-0 scoreline is very flattering to the Belgians, they've played abysmally.

In Test cricket, each side has two referrals in the space of 80 overs. If they are correct in challenging the umpires decision, they don't lose a review.

Maybe something similar could be used in the large competitions like the World Cup or European Championships with all the dozens of cameras being available for evidence.

Similar in tennis. IIRC it's 3 reviews per set, plus an extra if it goes to a tie break.

And that continues the trend of tournament favourites looking pretty unconvincing. That scoreline is very, very flattering for Belgium.

Af course, it probably means that they'll actually turn up and run rings around England now... Always the way.

Strange game,i thought Belgium were just sussing them out and going slow.
The bits that matter were very good.
I always worry about slow start teams of Belgiums calibre
