Drove the last Morris 1100 Panda car the Met Police had. The gap between the top of the driver's door and the body was big enough to see through - driving it in the rain meant you had to wear a macintosh as the water poured over the door top like Niagara Falls.

The first car I drove was my work's Datsun Sunny van. It was white with orange and brown racing stripes down the sides and across the bonnet with stainless steel wheel trims. Sounds yuck but it was very cool ;0) Also very fast! Maybe it only had a 1.3 engine but with a daft nineteen-year-old driving nothing overtook it ;0)

My boss thought I just used it around the doors but I took that van all over the country. He would've cracked up if he'd known :0)

My first car was a Renault 14 --terrible car but the seats were like your favorite arm chair, none of that shaping rubbish you get these days just a big lump of foam.. i also remember sitting in the back of my dads vauxhall viva in shorts constantly peeling my legs of the plastic seats..

My first and worst car was an Austin Allegro (All Agro).

Remember once the bonnet flying open at 75mph on the outside lane of the M3 during peak traffic - the driver in the car behind had to stop off at the next service station to change his pants

My first car (18 years old) was a very nice Escort Mk 2 1300 GL - bright red, vinyl roof.....original.... and I used it to get to races etc... Frank travelled in it a few times (my best bike I have now...it was worth even then, double the car's value) until it (the car) got nicked off my drive..... I was well gutted.......... and that was early evening...

Got a Mk3 Escort 1600 Ghia (about 19) after that..oh heck..it was fast....and then at 21, traded in for a brand new Rover Metro (K series) GTa...just one off the GTI, but I was 21....now that was a quick little bugger.... shame it got hit twice by stoopid drivers (not me) ..... then got rid.......

Yes, and with the hydro gas suspension (which needed pumping up every year) it made little difference which way you turned it - the car still carried along in the same direction.

1981 Ford Fiesta. My dad was a mechanic for Ford in his younger days so everyone in the family had one. Dad used my as a rally/race project so it got tinkered with more than most, slightly lowered suspension, wider wheels and the engine had a bit of a boost too. Not a full on Max Power type thing but performance was improved. Had some really fun jaunts with friends in it but was unfortunately written off by drunk driver crashing into it.

i've got a '79 / '80 fiesta 1.3 Ghia, some where along the way its acquired a similar spec engine to the sport with twin choke webber.

needs a bit of welding here and there but otherwise its brilliant. not got the time or money to fix it tho

Mine was blue. 1500 twin-carb, with overdrive.

Fantastic car. The whole of the front end hinged at the front, so you could swing it open and sit on a wheel to work on the engine. And when I replaced the engine I took the bonnet off, lifted the engine a few inches on a pulley, and pushed the car out of the way.

I had one of those, mine was yellow, had some great fun in it. Traded it in for a Stag which was even cooler, one of the loveliest cars ever made in my opinion. The Stag was yellow too and looked just like this (although this isn't mine)

Best car (most fun) '89 Escort XR3i
Worst - Mitsubishi Lancer of indeterminate age which cost less than its roof rack, its lights were so crap that I couldn't venture out of built up areas after dark!
Almost bought this but decided that I had better use the money as a deposit for my first house...

My fist car was a canary yellow Fiat 126 with an Abarth exhaust and a twin choke webber. It must have pushed bhp up from the original 22 to well over 26! I loved it though, rear-wheel drive, peanuts to fill up, cost me £100 (in 1998) and sold it for £100.
