Similarly do not specify what type of bike you have on Strava if it's a nice expensive one. The number of folk who advertise they have a Pinarello Dogma or whatever, and let anyone know where they live is mind boggling. I have 2 bikes "good weather bike" and "bad weather bike" on Strava. Also don't put your fancy bike make in the title of your rides as that is searchable too.
Eg. I just searched "Dogma" on Strava and it gave me a rider who gives out his exact start point and end point on his rides (they are the same place so must be his house). What an idiot.
It's not just strava, people are being tailed while out riding and followed home..

I'm with Nigel, just because people have no money doesn't make them a thief, I'm not being snotty or anything it is just an example One could also say mr Dogma is self employed, has a good accountant, brand new merc on the drive of his big posh house and he doesn't like paying taxes (who does?), His turnover is say £250k/year but his so called taxable profit on paper thanks to mr Dogma's accountant is £1000/year but he can afford to buy anything he wants, does that make all well off people fraudsters?

The problem is that unscrupulous people can see where you park your nice, maybe very valuable bike. IIRC similar sites may have been used to do just that. >

I always thought that was pretty unlikely - wouldn't it be more likely that they saw them on the road and followed them home, rather than using strava? Occam's razor, and all that.

though @nickyboy's scenario seems a bit more possible

I've been using CycleDroid until yesterday. Tried Strava on a 50km spin yesterday. I can see it recorded the ride on my phone but I can't access it. I know I live in the back of beyond and 'broadband' is still to become an entry in the local dictionary but can someone tell me how I can access my ride? When I tap on it, my phone, a Galaxy SIII, goes into permanent Strava sync mode but I don't understand why. What is it trying to sync with? Are the rides filed in that heavenly place, 'The Cloud'? Does it only work if you have 3 or 4 G's whatever they might be?

I've never had to attend a computer course in my life. I'm totally self-taught and depend heavily on computers in my day-to-day business. BUT I didn't sleep for a month when Microsoft announced they were no longer going support Windows XP. Windows 8 has made me feel old and I confront Apps with a similar awkwardness. Is Strava sprung from the same clever loins?

Strava needs to sync with the cloud before you can look a the ride on your phone. If you don't have 3g/4g, do you have Wifi at home? You can connect your phone using that, then the rides will upload and you'll be able to review them on your phone

Can't imagine to many people would want a Viking. Though I start and stop at the end of the lane where there are other houses, and you can't see ours from where I start.
