When I run the kids bike club at work we have a "spot the hazard" quiz with a picture of two kids on a bike. One of the first hazards they find is that he's wearing flip flops.
I'm of the opinion that flip flops should never be worn, ever, but I'm not actually the boss of you.

I think, on balance, that cycling in flip flops is acceptable providing you have a beard and/or wear tie-dyed teeshirts. Obviously the longer the beard, the more acceptable it is.

It's only acceptable if you're a girl.
