I have a brand new one I am willing to sell. It came with my new Giant and they wouldn't swap it so I purchased my choice of saddle.

I hope you're right. trouble is, it won't be in 'mint' condition if it's been fitted...

Depends how you fit it and conditions that you test ride in.

My Arione is 1,500 miles in and pretty much mint as clean after every ride.

Can tape over the rails when fitting to avoid clamp marks. Some shops allow you to buy and return if saddle not suitable. Do you think they throw those away every time then?

Yes. Every LBS has a hydraulic crusher, specifically for destroying pre-owned saddles.

That explains why they charge so much more than online then.

The Fizik gear is packaging so nicely, but also in such a way that it's easy to repack without too much hassle. If you have ever opened the Fizik boxes you can subtly tell if it's been repacked, but it's far from obvious to the first time opener.

My Arione had definitely been out of the box before, maybe even test ridden, but no marks on it at all.
