A good few years ago three of us drove to Lyon and back with our bikes strapped to the tailgate.
1100 mile round trip, cruising at 80 mph, not a problem.
A few years later, a friend was learning to drive in the same car.
The magnetic L-Plate was put onto the tailgate, whereupon it fell off.
And that's when we discovered we'd had £1200 worth of bikes hanging on a plastic tailgate...

What you need to do is have kids, put em in the saddle, tie the bike to the car and proceed with your journey. Tell them no pocket money if they drop them and hope they can hold on tight. Happy motoring!

Had motorbike trailers in the past, made a couple myself. Don't see the problem with towing if you have family of bikes especially if you set it up right.

Keep Calm and OMG.......CAKES!!
I have a tailgate carrier and have no problems carrying 2 bikes but I do keep checking in the mirror because the bikes are wider than the car. I sometimes think I'm going to clip another car!

I could never have a roof mounted rack because I'm too short to reach over the roof
