How did you get on???? I finished in 3:15 according to my garmin. Stopped for a bit at the second feed station while my mate stretched his back.

The flapjack was good, the wind wasn't.

Wow you were fast, one of the fastest times I've seen! The official timings have just been released, I finished the 60 miler in 4 hours 7 minutes which earns me a Silver classification.

Very pleased with that, I went in expecting a Bronze.

Wind was atrocious!!!

Will write a full report (!) with pictures in the progress thread tomorrow once I've got home and uploaded Garmin. At this moment am fully concentrating on my 4 cans of Kronenburg and trying to block out the thumping sound of house music coming from the wedding directly below our room.

Ooh went to Bournemouth and Christchurch this afternoon too. Fun packed day!

Well done buddy, good work. Reward yourself with more than Kronenburg though, you deserve it.

Outside of Glastonbury Bournemouth is my favourite place in the UK.

The four cans ain't going to do it, but the way I am with wine, the bottle of Chablis might help.

Get on it fella you deserve it, leave us waiting until tomorrow.

So breaking my Sportive virginity on Saturday at the New Forest event, doing the shorter of the two routes (60 miles). Doing it on my own, rather than in a club or with friends.

Got booked into a hotel, though judging by reviews its a bit of a hole, but its either that or Southampton which is too far for a 6am start...

Any tips, things people have found to be good pointers on their rides?

Congrats on completing it. I was toying with entering this for my first sportive as it's my local and I know the roads well, but in the end decided against it. I did instead go out by myself to stalk those taking part and to see how things were panning out.

I do have a couple of questions if you don't mind.

1) The start time. Is it a case of the earlier you get there, the earlier you get going? Or do they wait until the start time expires before letting everyone go?
2) Feedstations. Free? Cash involved? How far apart are they?
3) How easy to get lost? I noticed a load of chalk markings on the road and the signs on the side but how easy is it to actually keep to the correct route?

Cheers.

I can only comment on the Wiggle events, but here goes.

The start time is the earlist they will let you leave, normally they set you off in small groups every 2 minutes. Normally this will be from 08:00 onwards.

Feedstations are free, but they ask you only to take a certain amount of food, so there is enough to go around.

In my experiance getting lost will take some work, even on the event where protesters had been smashing signs there were enough directions that I didn't need to refer to the map once.
