@vickster Just to keep you in the loop it looks like I will be going for the specialized roubaix, you'll be pleased to know the model I want only comes in matt black carbon...

This will sit nicely alongside the Whyte Montpellier which is....Matt black carbon.... View attachment 124962

However the mountain bike is only mostly black....

Hi all, other than in my teens 20 years ago I'm looking to get my first real road bike as N+1. I will of course test ride some but what I want advice on is considerations to be made on narrowing down my choice.

I already know I'm probably looking at 105/ultegra groupset at this price point.

My preference would be for disc brakes even though I would very much like to keep the weight down.

Frame material probably full carbon unless there is a compelling reason for an alternative.

Easy to reach and use brifters from different hand positions.

so these I already have in mind but what other things should I be looking for?
Good wheelset or upgrade later?

All advice gratefully received especially if the ideal bike is mentioned...

cheers all,

ssd...

The first thing I would look at is 2015 models as they have great reductions. You might be able to pick up your dream bike for a little cheaper meaning you can buy some upgrades or accessories within your budget.

Other option is dropping £2000 and maybe taking 0% interest if the bike you want is slightly more.

Disregard haha just noticed you ordered
