Hey guys just joined and hope to be here a while so pointers be great.

So just bought a Giant Ocr4 for £30!!

Needs some work, namely the front wheel is different to the back! The saddle has a tear (bought a new eclipse one) the paint a bit chippy. But other than that not bad all round. I will be changing the pedals because I just don't like them.

So far have put a set of lights on it and started to clean her up and lubricated the gears and chain. Will put up a picture

Helloooo,
The only thing that matters is your interest/enthusiasm. If you find that you are still enjoying cycling on that bike in a few months, then you are doing great.Stick around on ere ^_^
Welcome to the forum!:hugs:

Great deal.
Different wheels don't matter as long as each one fits the frame and transmission system. It may be an indicator of crash damage so check, esp for frontal collision which ripples the surface at the head-tube join.
Frame is aluminium so chipped paint is only cosmetic.
Check wear on the chain and cogs. If the rear sprockets have shark's fin shape, replace rear and chain, and possibly front rings. Its is still a great bargain.

Well done and a real bargain. Road bikes means you have to dress the part and look good!! The right gear ( need not be expensive ) means you will enjoy the ride that much more.

Couldn't agree more - Plus fours, tartan socks and a good tweed jacket at least:rolleyes:

I have just read a book by Cliff Pratt of Cliff Pratt cycles in Hull. A superb book going back to his cycling days in the 30s. What you described is what they wore and they rode huge mileages. Im tempted to get a Brompton so I can dress like that :0)

I have taken some images of the bike. Can I straight upload to here or do I have to host through photo bucket or the like?

Well done, get past the first few weeks and then just keep pedalling.

Wear any clothing that feels comfortable. Shorts with track suit bottoms, bike clips, an old wool jumper and a pair of trainers is fine for my level of ability. Cycling as a fashion parade makes me laugh too.
