I like the idea of a metric century i to get very tense after about 2hrs riding i need a massage now.good on you!
if you can do 50 miles you can do a metric century (100km or 62 miles) so roll it on!
i recently did my first imperial century having done a couple or so metrics by accident and was surprised by just how easy it was considering i hadn't done more than my 15 mile commute for a month or so
just split it up into suitable chunks, for me it was 20 miles. so i rode 20 miles pulled over pretty much anywhere had an apple and/or snack bar and a sandwich at lunch and a sip to drink and stretched my shoulders which i find tense up if i'm not careful and simply get on with it
i say go for it, set your self a target say first metric century before the end of this year and then first imperial century before end of 2015. should be by all means possible
Cheers Ed
the furthest i did was 16 then jumped to 23 then 33 then 50! so why not just get it in your mind you're doing 50 miles, set your route and do it i actually didn't go out to do 50 miles today (just had a free afternoon) but when i looked at my strava i thought bugger it,today is the day i break my comfort and i did it at a decent speed and a decent time, taking the fact that i had a 30min break and a huge argument with a c;nt of a driver...... I'm pleasedWell done.
I've now got a week off work and my plan is to do a 50 mile ride as I will have recovery time. The furthest I've cycled so far is 28 miles. Is it too big a leap up to 50 or should I just go for it?
@ColinJ will be doing one at the end of March. It's rather hillier than your route, so you've some time to practice hills Pop along and join in, there were 30+ at this years rideI like the idea of a metric century i to get very tense after about 2hrs riding i need a massage now.
Good goal to set and very achievable i should have thought.
