I tried that once.My front is not snipped to length but coiled about its self to keep it out the way .
Coiled cables, good god.
Never had that or seen that happen.Without TyRaps around it, I wouldn't trust that not to come unravelled and get tangled in the wheel.

As an added advantage they give me plenty of length to pull the tension how I want it, and provide a ring pull for emergency re-tensioning on the road.
On brakes I tuck them into the spring:
