Can't spell, Can't Punctuate....Sue Me
Also to note: my knees did get a bit cold even with roubaix tights on - do people wear knee warmers over their tights? - it feels like I need to when the windchill is really signifcant but I wonder if they'd stay in place over a Lycra tight???
then put them underneath

Its difficult to get properly dressed for winter. I did some last year but the things that made the biggest difference to me were:

1. thermal spd boots - I had defrosters and having warm toes helped me
2. A good thermal cap - some no brand item with a long thermal buff which I pulled over the back of my head, if that makes sense

The other bits people have already mentioned. I find it useful to make myself as much as possible windproof i.e prevent wind entering me - so neck, arms and a long jacket.

I am still struggling with my hands.

Oh yeah and some cycling glasses (or in my case safety glasses) as otherwise my eyes water in the cold.

After many years of frozen hands and much money spent on gloves I finally cracked it, these are superb, mine are not exactly like this but this is a picture I got from google

I think better merino (i.e. more costly) is less itchy...that's my hope as a friend who works for Rohan is going to source me one (they retail at £55)

I'll follow the instructions to the letter...if this has an adverse effect, Rohan are very good at replacing as they are very focused on fabric technology etc

A tip for keeping warm by wearing the right clothes in the winter months, is to log every ride you do, marking down, what you wore as individual items, what the temperature was, max, avg and min and wind strenght. Record whether you was , hot, warm or cold, warm being the ideal. Even record if it was just your feet or hands cold and your body was warm. Basically you end up with a record sheet of a load of tick boxs, with dates down the left, and clothing items across the top along with the rest of the info to fill in.

When it comes to going for a ride, check what the min and max temperatures are predicted, consult your chart and look for a similar circumstance and what you wore and did it suffice, if not wear something warmer or cooler if its predicted warm or cold. If you do a lot of winter riding, you only have to do it for one year. Unless of course you buy lots of different jackets and jerseys etc. You will soon find that some items are better than others, even shirts branded coolmax can vary in warmth.

It removes all the guesswork which normally happens by just looking outside and hoping for the best you have got it right
My On-One merino jersey went through a 40 degree was this weekend by mistake, and I thought I'd have that, but to give it its credit, it's come through exactly the same size.

And you can actually see the white bits now.
Does the On-One have an acrylic mix? Have seen a few like that now.
