A friend and I have just booked to go to the Netherlands in September.

Harwich-Hoek van Holland and back, two people, two bikes and one cabin was £456 but I had an offer code which brought it down to "just" £395.

At least there are two of us to split the cost but it's still a bit eye-watering. I did suggest the Dover-Dunkirk route and train up, even though the timings would have made it a bit of a faff, but my friend was having none of it!

You could always buy your own boat, insurance , licences and fuel, and hire your own crew if you think you could do it for less.

Just booked our regular May half term Netherlands bikes and beer tour ferry from Hull to Rotterdam.
£782.92 for 2 people, 2 bikes, inc standard cabin and meals. Need a lie down now. I think this is the last time we will be going. This is around £250 more than summer 2024.
In future years I am considering bikes on Eurostar (to Brussels only atm, but may change in the future)

I think it is the inclusion of the "half term" that skews the price. Some of the pricing for school holiday times is obscene.

Except that, being teachers, we have always had to travel in half term. We are used to sucking up school holiday prices (the trade off being 13 weeks holiday!) This is our 4th half term Netherlands bike trip so the price hike is comparing like with like.

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
Is Holyhead still closed. Have read they are operating Heysham - Dublin instead

One of the berths has been repaired and is open, the other isn't fixed yet. Hence the alternative departure ports.
