Schwalbe Durano +'s for me. No problems with them at all and they seem fast enough to me. More importantly for a commuter, no punctures!!
Mine have done 2700miles and in that time I've not found them bad at all. I've had one p'ture in that time (and that was when 1000+ carpet tacks were spread over the Etape Caledonia route, some folk got 5 that day ). I'm a light rider though and there are on my best bike, seldom exposed to inclement weather (although I have been caught out the biggest time was the whole Ken Laidlaw, 105 miles in the pouring rain). My brother (heavier than me) anecdotally seems to fair less well on the p'ture front. Fitting both him and me had no problem; I take it you have no rim/ valve tape damage or a protruding spoke. What seems to work too (for me at least) when fitting any new tyres is to put a little air in the tube to prevent it getting trapped and the tyre (if foldable) to form then put the tyre on and after going round once deflate the tube to get the last bit of tyre in. I also add talcum powder and it seems to cut down on the pinching, etc and makes the fitting easier. How you find fitting the gp4000s from new? I just got home from nightmare commute (two p*****tures and lost water bottle du to pothole rain wind etc..) and these had arrived I notice a third air leakage and thought bows gd enough time to do this and went to swap both front and rears out tried three times to fit one true with a tube blow out at each time around the 80psi point was v v careful re pinch points etc and gave up stuck the old rear on for now as have no spares and need to commute tomorrow and fri tips from any gp4000s users much appreciated as they look great and my other have 5000miles on them!

This.As you state, very fast, hugely hugely mind-bendingly grippy and comfortable. Yes they rear wears very quickly and they are cut-prone, but for my money worth it in all but the worst winter months.
what tyres do you use on your road bike and why?
