I used to have Rubino Pro 3's nice tyre but started cutting up after 1600km then became prone to punctures.
Currently using Conti GP4000s, similar performance to the Rubinos, no signs of cutting up yet.
No problems putting on the GP4000s tyres.

I have just converted from Specialized Roubaix Pro 25mm shoulder and 23 mm running to GP4000s 23mm. Thus far 150 miles in and in some really crap weather I am really impressed the bike definitely spins better, I would say I have felt an improvement more so than upgrading the wheels a while back.

Also against all logic they do not feel any harder ride than the Roubaix Pro tyres

How you find fitting the gp4000s from new? I just got home from nightmare commute (two p*****tures and lost water bottle du to pothole rain wind etc..) and these had arrived I notice a third air leakage and thought bows gd enough time to do this and went to swap both front and rears out tried three times to fit one true with a tube blow out at each time around the 80psi point was v v careful re pinch points etc and gave up stuck the old rear on for now as have no spares and need to commute tomorrow and fri tips from any gp4000s users much appreciated as they look great and my other have 5000miles on them!
Mine have done 2700miles and in that time I've not found them bad at all. I've had one p'ture in that time (and that was when 1000+ carpet tacks were spread over the Etape Caledonia route, some folk got 5 that day ). I'm a light rider though and there are on my best bike, seldom exposed to inclement weather (although I have been caught out ;) the biggest time was the whole Ken Laidlaw, 105 miles in the pouring rain). My brother (heavier than me) anecdotally seems to fair less well on the p'ture front. Fitting both him and me had no problem; I take it you have no rim/ valve tape damage or a protruding spoke. What seems to work too (for me at least) when fitting any new tyres is to put a little air in the tube to prevent it getting trapped and the tyre (if foldable) to form then put the tyre on and after going round once deflate the tube to get the last bit of tyre in. I also add talcum powder and it seems to cut down on the pinching, etc and makes the fitting easier.

thanks yea they new folders check the rim tape and the spokes all good think it was due to me doing it after 3 P*tures and a 3.5 hr commute home in the rain and wind and at 12/1 am will give it another go this pm after a better ride home hopefully.

As you state, very fast, hugely hugely mind-bendingly grippy and comfortable. Yes they rear wears very quickly and they are cut-prone, but for my money worth it in all but the worst winter months.
This.

If you ride your bike for fun, Pro Race will make you grin like a loon, they really are lovely.

For a wet weather/harder wearing alternative, I'm enjoying Krylion Carbons at the moment - surprisingly nice, even in the 23mm.

I've ridden GP4000, and whilst they're good, imo they're not that experience that Pro Races are - they don't do anything particularly badly, but don't make me smile the way Pro Race do.

Gatorskins I dislike intensely - the 25c wire on set i had were hideously slippy in the wet, and to this day are the only tyre I've wheelspun trying to move away from lights.

I am on pro3race. Commuting through the country I get away with using them all year.

M Krylion Carbon here..

Just recently I rode through Liverpool the Monday morning after the grand national weekend. Broken Glass, Glass, Glass and Blood... and the Krylions picked up a couple of tiny glass fragments, but nothing got through to puncture.

Nothing other than Michelin Pro race for my bikes, blue on one, and red on the other. Swear by them. Apparently the '3' cuts up more than the '2' or '4', but they (the 3) are on offer at Decathlon for £19.99. Currently riding '2's

Oh and Michelin Aircomp latex tubes in the best bike, for added 'whoosh' noise !

Continental Grand Prix 4 Season 700 x 23. I like them a lot. I've only had them a couple of weeks so I can't comment how fairy-proof they are or how they wear. Parker International were selling them for a tad under £30 each.

i would have thought it woukd have only been suited for a poll if you wanted to find out what was the best of the options contained within the poll, i was interested in knowing what people used and this may be a product I have not considered previously
