I've a mate who swears by them, in his words the grippiest tyres he's had. I considered them but some reviews say they wear/ cut up easy. How are you finding them?
As you state, very fast, hugely hugely mind-bendingly grippy and comfortable. Yes they rear wears very quickly and they are cut-prone, but for my money worth it in all but the worst winter months.

Schwalbe Durano Plus. The set on the Viner have now done well over 4,000 miles without problems. Now got them on the Condor as well (over 1k last year). Not the fastest, but then neither am I

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Gatorskins - folding. I found Pro Race 3s cut up very badly, very quickly. Lovely on a smooth circuit (and they make a great noise!) but didn't cope well with top-dressed roads. The Gatorskins are quite lively, and only 20 gms heavier per tyre (advertised figures, 700x23 folding), and don't appear to cut much at all.

Close to the ideal combination of grip/longevity/p**resistance for my kind of riding (audax).
They are now discontinued and I wait with baited breath the replacement in Michelin's range which I understand will be known as the Pro 4 Endurance.

Back to the original question I think my favourite tyres are GP4000s or GP 4 seasons, having said that I've just fitted Mitch Carbons as they were a lot cheaper but if they live up to the hype they'll be my favourite. I only had them 720miles but they haven't let me down in that time.

I like my Schwalbe Durano+, as the bike is used for a mixture of commuting and leisure riding I needed something a bit more rugged.
Do quite fancy getting some of those Mitchelin's though, I reckon 25's would be good, seen 'em for £22 is this about right?

what tyres do you use on your road bike and why?

My preference is for
Continental
Grand Prix 4000s Black Chill tyres
as they wear well, grip well in the wet and dry and reasonably good in terms of puncture protection. I have kept a record of my bicycle tyre wear rates here. Might be of use to you.

Oh I also really like the wear dimples. Handy indicators as to the state of the trye.

That about right my 23's were £23.

Have ordered a pair in 25's flavour, will put them on the Secteur as that is likely to be used for leisure rides only now.
Ordered a few little bits and pieces while there is a 10% discount on

The new version is not in stock but price quoted is £36.99

P'ture wise they are great (I dont think I ever p'tured) but they let me down frequently grip wise, perhaps I needed a blue pair ;)

How you find fitting the gp4000s from new? I just got home from nightmare commute (two p*****tures and lost water bottle du to pothole rain wind etc..) and these had arrived I notice a third air leakage and thought bows gd enough time to do this and went to swap both front and rears out tried three times to fit one true with a tube blow out at each time around the 80psi point was v v careful re pinch points etc and gave up stuck the old rear on for now as have no spares and need to commute tomorrow and fri tips from any gp4000s users much appreciated as they look great and my other have 5000miles on them!

Another vote for GP4000S. Used them for a while, fast rolling, grippy in both wet and dry and hard wearing. Not the most puncture resistant but a great all rounder tyre.
