They didn't taste great which is why I checked the date later. I've tried blaming 'er indoors for not throwing them away but she just laughed in a callous kind of way and started looking for the life insurance policy. My last act will be to gift my bikes in the manner of the book exchange. I'm off to the pub tonight to try to expunge the effects with large quantities of Harveys Ale. Desperate times call for desperate measures!

Mmmm as a Lewes lad, I have fond memories of downing many a pint of Harveys...;)

Our local Scout group was given a pallet load of of Army compo rations all out of date in about 2002. The Scouts have been steadily eating their way through it for the last 3 years so far with no ill effect.

We managed to deciper the Army date system on the tins of pate (one of the more popular items along with the curry and the christmas pudding)

1973 !!!

As long as it stored at regular coll temprature, tinned and packaged food will last decades after the sell by date

Mrs T famously kept tins of fish well past their sell-by date. I think she only did it to give us hope.......
