CCF = Combined Cadet Force. I fannied around with them for a while. Our Wing Commander thought spending a week messing around in Chipmunks was more important than swimming for the school at the Nationals. He was wrong. And not very happy.

OTC = Officer training Corp.

DD = no idea.

I did 4 days work at Blandford Camp getting some kit ready to ship out to Afganistan. Does that count ?

Civvy boffin with the brown jobs. Best of both Worlds - life of Riley in the Officers' Mess, but could not be shouted at.

we had lee enfiled .303 rifles and in the 'war games' we were issued with blanks ammo which was fun...still pretty dangerous up close though. We also shot live ammo on the range supervised by regular soldiers...I shot 303's GPMG's Bren gun, sub machine gun like in th wold commando films, and a browning pistol...all in 'anger' at cardboard targets.

I remember stumbling across a naked female sunbather in penhale sands with my squad...at 15 she was a lot more fun to watch than the 'enemy' positions...which is why we lost the war it seems.

I'm a bit shell-shocked to tell the truth. Too many tours in kumbayeland.

Need a hot bath and the TV times.

I thought you were still sulking, my little candied parsnip...:smile:

I briefly considered joining the RAF but decided that it would be a monumental mistake and neither side would benefit. I do wonder occasionally if it would have actually been a useful experience and I'd love to have all that Forces slang at my fingertips.

Nearest I ever came was being a dental receptionist at CTCRM Lympstone. No, really.

Do you really think anyone is the slightest bit interested in anything you've ever said or done chuffy?
