That’s the downside of having the semi finals, perhaps. I haven’t watched any semifinals but I imagine they’d filter out the unlikely contenders.

The Serbian song was by miles the best and I've just listened to it again along with a translation of the lyrics, which were truly bonkers and which makes it even more great in my eyes (and ears).

I just looked up Eurovision on Wikipedia; it seemed the safest option.

I assumed it was a one night sing song, but my goodness it goes on for ages, and all over the host country, like the Olympics. They milk it for all it's worth and then some.

Also, Australia was apparently part of the competition. As the winning country hosts the next year, that would have been slightly surreal...

There's a rule that, if Australia win it, either the second place country host it, or the previous one (i can't remember which)
