There are several bikes just over the 3K mark and I might ring a few to see if I can get discount though I doubt it and several are 1X11 which I don't want.

Most group tests rate the Datum 30 and the Jamis Elite very high the Mason, Shaad, also fair very well too.

Buy a frame and fork package from them and built to suit spec or budget. I e done that a couple of times and saved quite a bit of money, the enjoyment of doing the build myself and no bits that I end up changing when buying off the peg.

That's worth thinking about :okay:

On the subject of frame and fork, I think this is your size @Boon 51 ? £1100 for a USA-made titanium frame that ticks pretty much every box- (mudguard fitting is a PITA, but as my former LBS proved, doable). I have the previous version, and I rather like it (extreme understatement).

I was doing some figures today and based on a Ultegra set up ( Datum 30 ) I don't think I could better the Datum 30 at £2500 it would cost me more than I could buy it.. I could if I went Tiagra and low end stuff it might do it but I don't want to go that way.
Shame..

All you are gaining with the Ultegra is a bit of weight compared to the 11-spd 105 which will prob not make much difference with a bike like that especially not £400 difference.

Good point but my other two road bikes a Giant TCR Pro 1 and a Defy Carbon Disc ( red and white one ) are both Ultegra and all my components are Ultegra and I like the Ultegra stuff, not that I dislike the 105 stuff but just prefer Ultegra.
