I agree,ethically I can't just ditch a plastic bottle & single use is also not for me.

not sure what you mean by single use.
My bottles made of whatever are years old.
If using plastic bottles I'd these days try to use clear ones so that you can see whatever might be festering in them.

Someone else suggested that using single use plastic bottles was the way to go,I like a bottle with cap cover.

Keep the bottle in a sealed reusable bag if on mucky roads, shouldn't stop going to bottle cage? Just open bag when needing to drink
