Electric car recharging stations

There's no way on earth I'd want a Morris Minor that could accelerate to 60 in under 6 secs, they handle like ponderous bricks anyway. I think my workshop manual for my 1957 one quoted 0-60 in around 30secs, bits of bodywork would fly off if it went faster than that!

There's plenty of companies that provide upgrades, eg;

Disc-brakes, suspensions, steering
Sierra 5-speed 'boxes were matched to 'big-block' Austin-Morris engines (eg; 1275cc)

classic should stay '' classic '' as they rolled off the production line...Im crying typing this.
In a way, I'm with you, I've had several Solihull products, & driven practically all (1), barring (all) of the hideous looking present range
I'd love a 'series 1 (as I call) them Rangie
Be it an early, vinyl seated, 2-door, or a (very late) 'soft-dash', 300Tdi, 5-speed manual

electric/hybrid is the way forward but to convert a classic car , a Range Rover , is sacrilege !!!!!! and a Vw T2 camper...so wrong
If it gets people interested, & saves the vehicle, rather than it being considered too bad to save, & broken for spares
Yes, I know that practically anything is available for them, via specialists

What about the VWs, with Subaru engines?
and it gets worse..a series One landrover.....they should be burned at the stake.
If it's a 80", I'll agree with you

1. Favourite to drive, & most fun (a friend had one) was the 101FC

When I replace the second car it'll be an EV. Rarely does trips of more than 30 miles and there are significant subsidies for installing a home charging point which may not be available forever. I suspect charging points will become ubiquitous on new builds in time so one on my home will make it more marketable

Probably keep the "main" car as conventionally fuelled, at least for now
One of our Consultants has an 'EV', he commutes to Wakefield, from Hebden Bridge:wacko:
Sometimes he does ride in (well, a mixture of 'Brompton & train)

He was going to buy a Tesla, but decided against it, & bought a Hyundai
I've not seen it yet, & sadly haven't had the chance to look at it, although we do sit & talk a lot
It's a good name for a cyclists car too:angel:

Apparantly,, he's got a home-charge station, & has a green tariff too

Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS)

Electric cars are close to silent. While this helps reduces road noise, contributing to more pleasant, liveable cities, it can also present a possible hazard to pedestrians, who tend to take the sound of silence
as an all-clear to cross the road. That’s why the KONA Electric is equipped with a melodic driving sound, announcing its presence to pedestrians, cyclists and the blind.
