But my 9 year old car can travel a lot further than 35 miles before I have to fill it up again, it cost me less last year when I bought it than a Leaf would & has so far cost me less than £100 in maintenance. I really want to go electric, but I just can't I cannot change my lifestyle enough to make it viable. I know it's selfish & short sighted but I don't have another option.
I don't disagree. I was just keen to give a broader view than your post implied.

But still the biggest issue & the elephant in the room is the initial cost I don't have £3k to throw at a car let alone £30k+

Just bought a new (old) house and it has an electric charging point already installed. Obviously looked at an electric car with that in place but could run my Citroen for a fraction of the cost.....

I'd have one of these for the fun factor though -

There are quite few charging points for electric bikes in Flensburg, Germany.

We use 2 pin plugs here We save on metal. ^_^

Flensburg! That brings back memories, stayed there for a few weeks during my time in the RAF, lovely place. Used to frequent the Hansens Brauerei there, so much so that I bought a tankard from them that I still have. Years later I went to NYC and tried to find the sister pub but it had closed down about 2 weeks before me getting out there

Died in the late 70s I think - great point-to-point, providing those points suited.
