Do I need to get the spray plaster out?

No disappointment - relief :smile:Cos there is no way I was going to get to that level on a bike

Yesterday i rode for approx 4 hours, not intended just got carried away. I hadnt really eaten before hand and only had an apple on route, didnt have much in at home so had a couple of chicken thighs for dinner. Today i went shopping and since getting home i have eaten aboout half of the shopping, which is supposed to last at least a week !! ate a whole french stick with ham and salad, donut, pain au raisons and 4 yes 4 cream dessert thingysxx( oh and a mars bar
Could this be a reaction to yesterdays ride ? i did want to go out today but i'm knackered and thought i should have a day off after such a long ride.
Whats best way to avoid a binge after a ride !!! or am i blaming on ride and i'm really just a piggy
forgot the packet of cheese tuc biscuits

That is an epic meal! If I said I wasn't impressed, I would be lying!

Long cycle rides are a great excuse for :mrpig: :hungry: :mrpig: !

Any excuse to eat bacon is a good thing, surely?

If you don't wanna eat a ton of stuff, check out some of the post work-out recovery proteins you can buy from most decent sports shops, or my favourite.... Www.myprotein.com

You don't need special Protein/recovery suppliments unless you're some kind of high performing athelete, which discounts about 99% of cyclist on this forum. Normal good food will suffice for mere mortals.

My recovery products after the recent cold overnight ride from Oxford to London ....

Yeah, I'll have it, but I can't stand the taste of milk, so when I mix protein, I make it with water. I know milk is good for me, and I get it from other places, but can't face drinking it cold, unless its with cereal. Yes I am a strange creature. I'll eat almost anything, but could ever drink a pint of milk!

I don't think any one could compete with the milkman. He's kind of a hero for doing that!

I am trying to get fit and lose a little weight but the more I ride the more I suffer.
I figure the more I suffer the fitter I get however sometimes I just need to eat to stop me hitting "the wall"

Have a look at this...

See if it gives you some ideas. The reasons for hitting the wall are detailed in here. I gives you some suggestions, but it's ultimately down to what works for you. Experiment and see what works.

I have a colleague who takes part in iron-man events, and he swears by jelly babies and energy gels.

Good article.
(My beef with the suppliment stuff is that this is the 'Beginners' section and beginners only need real food).

Thank you very much, it's opened my eyes up massively.

I am a beginner Fab Foodie I purchased my first bike since I was a child 2 months ago and its only a hybrid bike but hitting it hard for a few hours when already on a low calorie diet can sometimes do me in so this article is ideal for a beginner like me.

Also us beginners learning things like this early can only help us further down the road.

Gummi Bears are nice also, but the Haribo Gummi Bears are the best of all the Gummi Bears, I'm told.(1) Fig Bars seem to help me stave off the bonk as well.(2)
