Dutch knooppunt system - does the German section work the same

I plan to be in the bit of Germany bordering some Dutch bits next week. Happened to look at a CycleOSM map which seems to show the 'punt network (numbered circles!) extending a way into Germany. I've ridden a little of these in FLanders: will they look/work exactly the same if I cross over into Germany?

Yes, it works the same. Except that the numbers were red not green in the bit of Germany I visited.

And the system is originally Flemish, not Dutch!

As far as I recall they work the same as the Dutch ones.
A good tip (because some people mess around with them) is to check that the opposing number is showing behind you as you head for the next one.
Not a bad idea to take a photo of any map with them shown too.

I am no historian - merely a humble cyclist (and amateur topographer) ;-)
