It was TF2 Plus+ with (added teflon)
My thoughts were it was good at first but soon dried up preventing reapplications getting to wear it is needed - may be a good heat with a hot air gun would have helped to get rid of the old stuff.

--------------------

But anyway I may have a 2% chain for you^_^. 54 links have just measured in at 1399.26mm = 2.02%
and it is still going well. Still alternating 4 chains and have 1.81%, 1.84% 1.9% & 2.02%
so obviously the one at 1.81% is now on and will be taken out to 2%. and when they are all at 2% I can start trying for 2.2%
who knows we could get to 2.4 - 2.5. Book, film, nobel peace prize, lunatic asylam ?

so here is the chain and the casstte - Plenty wear left in that.
View attachment 372346
(only seem to use the first 4 gears) I can't tell which is the most worn - about 14k (miles) on that View attachment 372347
(ruler starts at 1200) so that is 1399.26
Brilliant! May I ask for a side-on photo of the cassette?

Jeez, all that time and effort that could have been used for actual riding. I'm not knocking your curiosity but all you have actually proven is that my neglectful, never clean the chain just give it a quick wipe and add some more oil occasionally, method is perfectly adequate and actually yields a wear rate at least as good as your best result. My chains usually reach the 0.75% wear point (measured using a gauge rather than the ruler method so I know some will question the accuracy) between 1200 to 1500 miles at which point I remove the filthy chain and replace it with a nice clean one for about £10. usually only 2 chains per cassette but sometimes get away with a 3rd (rarely), but again cassettes are not overly expensive models so no massive financial gains to be had from getting more life out of them.
The result of this is that I have a smooth reliable drivetrain for not a lot of cost or effort which equals a pleasurable bike use experience rather than a chore :okay:

EDIT: I think THIS is the oil I use, except it looks like they have changed the packaging from when I bought it. A bargain for 1ltr of good oil. I simply decant it into an old small bottle for easy application to the chains.

You are assuming he is doing this instead of riding whereas he is doing it in addition to riding. Experimentation is at the heart of finding out things and figuring out things is very rewarding. So much nonsense is spoken and written about chains that it is refreshing for once to have some basis for confirming or disputing claims.

I use Fenwicks stealth (for summer only).I find it excellent to be honest.Chain remains clean and transmission is slick and silent. Its expensive but one drop on each roller is enough. The bottle lasts ages.

Can someone help me and list the colours in post 34 in the order (L-R) in which they cut the 0.5% line. I have been unable to figure this one out. Turquoise FFS, what's that? I thought it was another word for blue.
L-R as written in the key. The short one's purple.
