I'm using finish line wet lube all year round on my commuter.

Just had my brakes replaced discs and pads and the mechanic said to use dry lube as the wet lube attracts dirt and this was getting flicked onto my brake discs which wrecked them.

My bike sits outside at work all day in all weathers.

Any advice ?

Use dry lube and buy a cover for the bike?

I'm now using Squirt wax lube ...... so far so good.... quiet, clean and smooth...... needs a Clean and Dry chain before first application....

Squirt is the best lube that I have used. I drop a little on every 100miles or so and a small bottle lasts for ages.

Everyone complains about chain lubes no more than motorcyclists, if you lube your chain just before you set off it WILL flick off, they all have solvent/propellant which needs to evaporate after you apply it and leave the waxy lube behind. Use the rule of P's (prior, planning and preparation , prevents piss poor performance).......:okay:

Is there anyway you can put the bike inside your workplace, the shed or anything with the roof? Generally, wet lube stays longer on the chain, whereas dry lube wash out quickly and have to be applied every wet ride. Cleaning the bike is essential, especially mechanical parts. Disc brakes rotors are mechanical parts sooner or later will wear out.

Currently that is not the problem. No one ever told me I would have to resort to microwaving the wax because it is no longer dissolved by the solvent in the bottle due to the weather being colder at the moment! Always applied after a ride so it has chance to evaporate before the next one.
