I once came across a somewhat eccentric bloke who lived in a very isolated spot in Mid Argyll. He was in the process of converting a camper van to run on calor cylinders. Cannot remember now whether it was butane or propane. Never heard of any large explosions so he must have survived.

Still bad in the SE. Apparently supply to forecourts is at close to normal levels, but demand remains over 3 times its normal amount.

Mrs D was telling me of someone at her work who was boasting gow she found an ooen peteol station and squeezed 7 quids worth into her already near full tank, even to things largely seem as normal here. Chumpus Maximus Idios.

Where did you see that? I doubt there's that many empty vehicles left or that locals are driving over 3 times as far, so maybe it's idiots travelling through making sure they fill up whenever they see a pump open because people keep posting online that it's still bad in the SE. ;)

Something is wrong somewhere - I cannot see any reason why demand for fuel is still 3 times normal

It made sense at the start because suddenly everyone topped up at the same time
but now - even if, as seems likely, people who NEED their car (either really or other) must be doing about the same sort of milegae as normal - plus a bit for searching for fuel

so why are they saying 3 times normal???

am I missing something

I'm with you. People can always find more room for bog rolls, if that rocks their world, but once you've filled the tank, that's it. Once the panic bubble has worked its way through the system, surely demand will be normal, assuming mileage is normal.

It was on trotSKY News earlier on, but Cougie's little map tells much the same storty.

Because people are now constantly topping it up. It means the point in which it settles down is being pushed further down the line.

Loo roll next I believe.

I've done my bit to conserve fuel for the needy. I've been cycling to work, saving a gallon every day ! Off to burn some driving to Wales later, but I've taken the roof rack off to save a little more fuel. ;)
