Double front brakes?

Hey all, I've had chance of some dirt cheap tri bars, but I'm holding off on buying them on account of the braking situation.

I'm not sure if it's possible to use two levers for the same brakes on my bike or not, I'm on a 1993ish Dawes Galaxy (please don't kill me for adding tri extensions) with cantilever brakes, both front and rear? And if so, does anyone have a how-to?

If you mean can you have a lever which pulls both brake cables at the same time, yes there are plenty on the market now due to people using them in bike polo.

I wouldn't bother trying to fit additional brakes - if you use tri-bars it needs to be in a traffic free area, you just don't have the control, and to brake from them could be disasterous.

Thanks oily, but I actually meant the other way around, having two seperate levers to work a single front brake

It's only for the sake of emergency, If someone on a country road overtakes and cuts in too soon (It has happened before now), I'd rather have an emergency brake there than have to reposition myself before I can slow down

You can get levers that work in line with the existing brake, like on cross bikes, but you would need some head scratching and trickery to cable them together on a tri bar.
