Dom Mason quits Kinesis - new range of Mason cycles

If you ride a Kinesis bike, chances are it's been designed by Dom who's been synonymous with the brand since it started. If you've ever sent them a technical query it's probably been answered by him as well but no more. Whilst it still looks like he'll be involved in some fashion he's starting his own bike brand.

2 I did ask them why the supplied seat collar didn't fit on the frame and got ignored. Does that count?

I've never ridden one but my mate, Ossie, bought an alu one and said it was the most uncomfortable bike he'd ever ridden!

Interesting in light of the recent Donohue thread.

These bikes are probably not quite to my taste or indeed, budget. I think if I wanted to spend that much I'd be heading for a Titanium frame.

I always felt Kinesis frames were overpriced. My LBS stocked them and they didn't look anything worth paying a premium for.

A while back I parked my black Pinnacle next to a black Kinesis Racelight, and other than the decals and forks the frames themselves were visually identical, perfect clones.

The prices seem to have gone up in the last few years and I suppose it depends who you compare them too and whether it's mtn or road. I have a mtn bike frame and like it. Most of their stuff gets favourable reviews.

Well I wasn't just talking about magazine reviews, most of us look to forums like this for feedback but it's always been the case you had to read between the lines.

I'm interested to see what people think of this new range but I expect we may have to wait as they aren't going to be huge sellers.
