Hi all,

I seem to be stuck at about 10 miles, i finish the ride feeling i couldnt do it again immediatly. How do i increase the distance? do i just bite the bullett and push harder or if i give it a couple of months will i just feel ready to go?

Depends how you are riding the 10 miles ....
If you're going flat-out from the gun then maybe you need to start more gently and pace yourself more in order to go further. Don't push it, go easy, the miles will come.

take some nutrions with you man, isotonic water and few sweet bars are the way to go, they will give you necessary energy and sweet bars are additional source of carbs, if ur from uk then in Co-operative they sell some strawberry and yogo biscuits in 10 pack for cheapo they are amazing for additional source of kick and very tasty too

Are you drinking whilst cycling? If not, do so. Eat properly before you go. Also, try to ignore feeling tired and just go for it, yuo'll be fine.

not hydrating enough is the problem then you really should at least carry water with you

Ok, your legs probably need a bit of a rest. Take a couple of days off, the go for 20 miles. Take a bottle of water and some sweet stuff (flapjacks are ideal) and just ride. You'll be fine. Think about getting water supplements and either a 2nd bottle or stop for refill for going further.

You could cheat a little to get over the 10 mile barrier, get a friend to drive you 12 miles from home and then you ride back.. you'll soon break the mental block.. good luck but it will soon pass.

i think as i was using the exercise to lose weight i didnt think about boosting energy midway, will try this and the water. Thank you. The firends i have would say it was 12 miles and drop me 30 away !!

You need less calories in than out to lose weight. But when the gap is too great, you'll run out of energy. Hydration is probably key though. You should aim for 750ml / hour.
