A four year old ford focus or a 7 year BMW (with astronomical running costs) wouldn't call either of those fantastic. they were the type of things I was looking at.....
10k would get you a very nicely-specced Beemer or Merc, neither of which need have "astronomical running costs." I drive a 14yo Merc I've owned for seven years, and in that time exactly one thing has gone wrong with it: an exhaust manifold which was welded for £400. It has passed every MOT first time with no work. And it's an absolute joy to drive.

I fancy the Dacia because it has £0 road tax, 3 years warranty, reasonable insurance, all the specs you find on much more expensive cars , good mpg and reviews from present owners is good. I am not a snob and not bothered about the car badge. BMWs and such like have no interest to me.

I'm sure 10k would get you a lovely motor but the highest priced sandero is 9K and mine was £6600...... and has more gadgets that the Astra 04 (apart from alloys) it replaced.....

There's far better value for money out there.[/QUOTE]

I am lucky that I buy all my cars in the trade, I have often found Renualts have been quite good value. There again if you have only had good experiences with a certain brand they tend to rank higher than those you have not.

Now Ford's, no thank you.

From a traders point of view I do not feel there is a rubbish New car out there that is available in the UK.

The Great Wall are doing some nice vehicles from what I see.

How can you tell it is a rubbish car? Have you ever had one?

It's a brand new car from (apparently) £6600. You're going to get what you pay for.

Same deal: spend the same amount of money on a used car and you'll get way more car for your money.

So on your thinking..... A Triban 3 or a Defy 5 is a S**t bike because its way less than a Specailized or A pinarello......

This is true but some of us prefer to buy a newer car, with considerably lower running costs (mpg, VED, insurance, Congestion etc), partly because we are not that interested in the 'driving experience' and partly because a car is purely a means to transport stuff - people, gear etc.

A bike :bicycle: on the other hand, is for life !

The difference is that it all depends on who owned the car before. At least, with new, everything is new and covered by a long warranty, not just 3 months. I also like the smell of a new car.

Its all about overheads the rumour is that dealers wont discount them because they only £100 on each £20 goes to salesman... The Renaults next to them in the showrooms earn the dealerships considerably more.... that accounts for some of the extra cost....
