Sean Kelly and Greg Lemond are two riders who finished races with their bikes covered in the brown stuff. If you want to get to the top you don't let something like the trots stop you, cycling is a tough guys sport.
I remember reading an autobiography a while back, can't remember who's, and in it there was mention of Greg Lemond with brown liquid running down his legs.

Apparently some caught in his rear wheel spokes, proper shoot hitting the fan.

Might sound stupid but they must feel the urge to number 1 or 2 when out racing or climbing and have never seen anyone use a portaloo climbing the Alps!!!
You forgot to add all the journos, photographers, police/ambulance, motorcyclists, team/support/race-management car drivers and very assorted passengers, caravan people? One portaloo may not be sufficient?

Or, of course, one gets used to managing one's bodily functions. A scatological contribution from someone who is proud NEVER to have used a toilet on an Egyption State Railway service in five years, despite .... well, let's not go there xx(

Arnaud Demare used the loo in a motor home parked at the side of the road on the Tour de France in 2014

Gets mentioned in 'A rough ride' by Kimmage and also in French Revolutions by Tim Moore IIRC.
