I recently swapped out my butyl tubes for a pair of latex ones. They do make the bike feel slightly lighter but are more problematic to inflate - i.e. more care / lighter touch required. You also have to pump the tubes up more often than with the butyl ones. But since using the latex tubes, the bike's become a lot more noisy - which I think is linked to the space between the valve and the hole for the valve on the wheel itself. I've thought about carefully removing the tubes (as they're more fragile than the butyl tubes) and putting a strip of sparky tape around the base of the valves. So when I push them through the wheel, there shouldn't be the space between the valve and the wheel, which may resolve the noise issue. Thoughts? Good idea, bad idea or is there another option? 🤔
