Don't go.

(Actually do go, I just wanted to be different from everyone else on the thread).

Months ago I signed up for a sportive. It is 72.6km and is 1222m of climbing. Had a practise run of the route a few weeks ago and I really struggled to the point that I didn't get round the whole route. Last week I did my first ever 100 miler which was about 900m of climbing and I was struggling by the end but managed it. Question is...sportive is tomorrow...do I suffer through it knowing I will hold the people I would ride with up just for the sake of doing it or do I stay at home and be pain and mental torture free lol. Half of me wants to do it but the other half just says...naaaahhhh. I haven't done enough climbing this year and don't know if I want to put myself through it for the sake of it. Can anyone give me some rational advice because my brain has given up on me!!! I need a electronic slap!
Go for it..........better to try than to stay at home regreting it.

Where's the sportive - I see you're in Furness in the South Lakes - I'm heading there early tomorrow to Broughton.

It's the Ladies of the Lakes sportive run by Sportive Lakes. I did it last year but it is a different route this year. Heads round Esthwaite, Hawkshead, Tarn Hows and Coniston via every bump in the area lol. Usually I am very much a 'give it a go' girl but this one I am just feeling a bit 'meh'. Think I am sick of being the one everyone waits for and I remember how much the trial run hurt! And now I have scoffed a big bag of milkybar buttons! I think if I go I will regret it and if I don't go I will regret it...no win situation lol

Edit - I've found it and the only thing that counts me out is my sex - I'll be there burning my Y fronts!

Hahaha I have to say I was a bit confused by the free gift of a nail file...would rather have had a set of tyre levers or something!

Broughton is lovely! Holiday? (I am nosey!)

If you don't go, what was the point in the first place! GO!

I had intended to actually do alot more training but life got in the way. I need to win the lottery so I can just go out and cycle all day :bicycle:

Go for it @EbonyWillow - sounds like a great route, mind you don't envy you the climb over Hawkshead Hill.

No not really a holiday just a regular trip to tidy up a cottage after summer.

If the weather is like it is in Denmark this morning, stay in bed.

We have the Danish cycling Championships in our village this morning and the weather is grim.

Ok...time to fess up...I didn't go  I decided that I wouldn't have enjoyed it as I would have slogged my way round reproaching myself for not getting enough training in and holding everyone up. So today will be spent meal planning, shopping and prepping for the 2/3stone I desperately need to get off!! Will get out on the bike for a bit later and spend some time with the family. I really appreciated all your support to get me out there! My goal this year was to ride my first 100 which I did last week so I am happy with that. Over winter I am planning some cross training to shift the weight so I can get stuck in to hills next year! I have plenty to practise on locally and my goal for next year may be tackling Hardknott and Wrynose:ohmy: Thanks again you fab lot:cheers:
