I could mount a .50 cal in the bed of my pickup and turn it into a Taliban Taxi. Syria and Iranistan would be no problem, especially with my beard.

I can drop you off in Kazakhstan... but you've got to wear more than that in my car.

I got the Metro to work this morning. Took me 20 mins. Some of my colleagues who drive have only just arrived, due to 'traffic chaos'. So it doesn't feel too stupid from where I'm sitting.

I think it's important to view the question from a macro rather than micro view. The fact that owning a car can bring convenience does not mean that cars have liberated us.
