Disc brakes

If you are waiting for the guys on the Mavic motorbike or your team mechanic to execute an ultra-rapid change and get you back into the peleton so you can start earning your paycheck, you may loose a few seconds as your mechanic has to locate the disc carefully into the brake caliper slot. For the rest of us, how much does a second or 2 matter.

On my Shimano Deore hydraulics, if you're being anal about the gap between disc and pads after refitting the wheel, it is sometimes necessary to re-align the brake caliper to prevent an annoying pad/disc rubbing noise.
Again it only takes seconds: loosen 2 mounting bolts; apply brake; tighten mounting bolts. Voila, pads re-aligned and no more rubbing, unless your disc is out of true.

Ah, the Wednesday evening crowd, I'm a resident of St. Neots . I'd email Nicetri, I'm fairly certain I saw a few riders with discs the last time they did the Grafham event.
