I've been cycling for over a month and have increased from first rides of 3 miles to a 7 mile loop with a few hills (which I struggle with but am battling them and enjoying it). I was feeling quite pleased with this. A bit disheartened after today's ride. I got lost, had my first fall and was very relieved to get home, tired and sore! I took my mobile for maps but think I need to mount it on my bars so I can see it for route guidance. My confidence is a bit shaken and I don't know whether to rest tomorrow or have another go. Suggestions welcome.

We all have bad days don't be to down or let it put you off . I'd probably rest and chill rather than push it but it up to you how you feel are you and the bike OK .do you now what made you fall so you don't do it again . I'm surprised you need GPS so near to home do you not have local knowledge I prefer to just go with the flow on local rides and not worry about navigation but I have very good local knowledge . how your not to sore and just keep riding and don't let one bad day put you off

Well done. Nothing wrong with a rest! See how you feel tomorrow. You are doing the right thing, building up the miles gradually. If it's a chore and you don't enjoy it, it will be difficult to keep it up, so good luck and let us know how you are doing.

Have another go. Everyone has a fall at some point but you just get back on again. I use Google maps and am constantly getting my phone out to see where I am, I like to study a route the night before.

Well done on your rides!
I get lost all the time, once half a mile from home!
Don't be shy to ask a passerby for directions, I find postmen most helpful.
Have a rest by all means, if you don't feel like cycling don't force it, relax instead. :hello:

If you are riding on road, you could drive the circuit in your car a couple of times to get the hang of it.

Google Street view is good as you can have a look at the junctions that you need to remember. I get lost all the time but sometimes it leads you somewhere you would have missed. Enjoy the cycling and keep it up.

I always use google maps if i don't know where I am. If you can find some way to hear the google lady shout directions at you then this will help you get home if you need her help?

I use headphones, because I listen to music as well - but that might be frowned upon technically x

If having a fall has shaken your confidence, ten you need to get back on the horse (bike). Tomorrow, go for a short ride - even if it's for 5 minutes - and then come home. By giving yourself a big break those fears can build up.

I had a fall last year and I was really worried about getting back on, once I did I was fine again.
Good luck with the riding, keep at it and you'll get more and more enjoyment
