20kg is an issue regardless of the course!

I wouldn't think of it as an issue, I'd think of it as an opportunity. It's a lot easier to ditch 20 kg than add 50 watts to your FTP, and the impact will be similarly spectacular. If the OP can hang on the back of a 4 cat race carrying 20 kg, he will be a rocket ship once he shifts it.

@OP I recommend the excellent Matt Fitzgerald book on weightloss. Racing Weight or similar title.

Agree with that, of all the training books on running and cycling over the years, Matt Fitzgerald is IMO one of the better authors (I sold on most of my books, keeping only the ones he authored and a handful of others) and Racing Weight is indeed a good read!
 
ok, that's probably a bit heavy. As mentioned, it would be well worth putting some focus into losing some of that. I'm no lightweight, but I'm 5st less than that and a similar height.. ;)

Might be worth cutting out an entire food group for a while, like bread, or similar. Normal calorie deficiency stuff will be a long time coming if you want to get down to a reasonable racing weight..

Tbh i dont eat a lot of bread, now even more so, the only bread kinda thing i have is a wrap at lunch.
Ive dump 3kgs since monday, basically not going over 1900cals(not inc excercise) so fingers crossed, and i drink 2-3ltrs of water.

Well i lost 4kgs this week and i had 4 hrs kip and i had the best race so far, so heres to dieting.:hungry:
