Just a random survey.

Does anyone actually give a monkeys about it?
For what it's worth, I couldn't give a toss😊

Barnet,
I'm not particularly interested in gravel racing. It's a bit like cyclo cross but without the mud.
I also think that gravel bikes, although we are told they are different, are just re branded Cross bikes.
im sure someone will disagree with me though.😀

I think it is very exciting, and if I was younger I would certainly be having a go. I am also not worried if they are rebranded cross bikes, having raced cross on and off for forty years I do know that gravel racing is different. I also like to see people out there enjoying bikes and getting fitter, if this means renaming things to do so then bring it on.

But they have disc brakes!!

Not in the current formats.
(EDIT: one big problem is that when roadie pros give it a good go, it's basically the same guys that are good in a 1-day classic that will win. So as a contest, what's the point?)

And I'm not really sure how they could change that: as mentioned, we already have CX races, and the self-supported ultra-dstance events can be fun for following peoples trials-n-tribulations. Do we need anything more?

On the other hand, this was cool:

I bet they had fun with coaster brakes on gravel - mahoussive skid city.

For the record no interest in following pro gravel races, but that maybe because they aren't as readily accessible to watch as road and track cycling.

I love the idea of gravel racing, but the coverage I follow tends to be the odd youtube video, with sweeping drone shots of scenery and the 'spirit of gravel' being represented by shots of the panda-faced winner (usually seems to be an ex world tour pro) downing variously either a jar of pickle juice or a beer.

It occasionally inspires me to whip out the gravel bike and stitch together a ride made up of a series of 'gravel' sections locally, which tend to be either mud or crushed shells. Like Dorothy, I don't think I'm in Kansas!

Sorry, I should have pointed out that I'm referring to professional side of gravel - old ex road pros, often.

This is the pro racing section.
I'm fine with amateurs doing whatever they want
