I have a pretty good diet and don't really eat rubbish... but my vice when doing hard traning is a can of Diet Irn Bru... but someone said that they can't get why I drink it as it's so bad... but can it be that bad?

Everyone seems to have an opinion as to something being "bad" for you unless you live on organic lettuce aand spring water
I am completely addicted to Pepsi Max,Could give up chocolate easier, yet my boss is always banging on about how awful it is for me. As she sits there doing eff all all day with one of her daily 40 fags smouldering away and her nightly half-litre of vodka safely hidden upstairs.

nothing, in moderation, is bad.

imo

I got semi addicted to Pepsi Max when Tesco were selling it half price for a few weeks, soon cured myself once it went back to normal price  Me tight?? ;)
Seriously though are these diet drinks bad for you? I have heard this off someone before but assumed they were talking rubbish, I tend to stick to tea and weakish cordial anyway now.

I think its something to do with the phenylalanine they contain? I might be wrong tho. But bloody hell, iv never smoked, I very rarely have a drink, I cycle, walk and ride horses, and I eat (mostly) healthy food. If its gonna be a can of pop that finishes me off then so be it

The sweetener they tend to use in diet drinks, aspartame I think, is banned in the US as there is evidence it can have some nasty long term effects. The EU haven't banned it though and most "diet" drinks seem to contain it. Mind you if you take every scare at face value you would end up eating lettuce and nothing else.

Ah – the soft drink for hard men, made in Scotland from girders.
Can't imagine the odd can of anything being too bad for you.
