Great effort mate well done, have a few questions as I'm building my distance and finished my first 40 miles yesterday.
How many miles do you ride in the week and in what chunks and when you rode the 100 how many times did you stop and did you ride with a friend

Hi Bash. I just fitted one 'big' ride in per week, increasing slightly to test the ice really. Started off with a 10 miler, then 15 then 20 etc. once I hit 50 the goalposts moved a bit. I had one bad ride where I mis-judged my fuel intake and bonked badly. Lesson learnt though and I researched mainly on here (CC) and came back stronger and much better prepared. Once you hit the 75 mile level, you won't be far off ready. Didn't ride for a week before the ride. Got really hydrated the night before, absolutely NO BEER, and a nice early night. I'm no expert but this helped me, hope it helps. Ta.

Sorry, missed the last part of your question. I stopped at all the rest stops. Every 20 miles or so? Stretched, hydrated, ate, peanut bars. Did the ride on my own, didn't want to 'stifle' someone else's day out! Maybe partner up next time to someone on a similar level/standard to myself. Ta.

Feeling quite chuffed with myself today. Did the Manchester 100 miler yesterday, in just over 7 hours, my average speed was 17 mph which I was happy with considering I'm fairly new to this game (that's with a puncture and a few fuelling stops as well). Little bit sore today today but nothing like I expected. I've lost 2 and half stone since I got my bike in November last year so it's been quite a productive year so far. I'll have to sign up for my next outing now :-)

p.s. I'm now sick of the taste of jelly babies xx(

Well done also on your weight loss - incredible!
and had to laugh at the jelly babies, I'm going to have to find a sweet I can abide as jelly babies are not one of them.
