well done
I'm suppose to do my 1st 100 miler this coming Sunday, and I'm starting to nervous.
Don't worry Phil, you'll be fine once you're up and going. Just keep fuelled up all the time. It was like a cycling buffet yesterday for me, didn't want to risk the dreaded 'bonk' though. Drink before you feel thirsty and stock up at all the rest stops and you'll crack it. Good luck.

Cheers everyone for all the comments, they're much appreciated

Well done. Great effort! But one bit of advice. If you've averaged 17mph, then say to people: Well, of course, rolling time was 5hrs 50ish. Ignore the times you stopped! Then it sounds even more impressive!
Oh yeah, didn't think of that

Cheers Joshua

Just take it easy for the first 5 or 10 miles, a lot blow themselves up then struggle later, hit a nice relaxed relatively high cadence and try to keep that.
Then just let the miles rack up you'll be surprised at how many others you pass easily after halfway. Have fun :becool:

Feeling quite chuffed with myself today. Did the Manchester 100 miler yesterday, in just over 7 hours, my average speed was 17 mph which I was happy with considering I'm fairly new to this game (that's with a puncture and a few fuelling stops as well). Little bit sore today today but nothing like I expected. I've lost 2 and half stone since I got my bike in November last year so it's been quite a productive year so far. I'll have to sign up for my next outing now :-)

p.s. I'm now sick of the taste of jelly babies xx(
Congrats. But 17mph average?

Well done matey, cracking good av. speed, I've yet to crack the 100 miler yet, My furthest so far was a ride to the coast at 86 miles five years ag, av spd 13.5mph on my mtb on knobly tyres, I had vibration white finger by the time I'd got there lol

Great effort mate well done, have a few questions as I'm building my distance and finished my first 40 miles yesterday.
How many miles do you ride in the week and in what chunks and when you rode the 100 how many times did you stop and did you ride with a friend
Many thanks
