I have a cube agree gtc sl which is full dura ace but i believe it can be upgraded to Di2. Now i'm not vaguely mechanically minded so i am asking you cc'rs if it is indeed possible and also what sort of cost would it involve?
Many thanks :hello:

All I know is existing full DA counts for nowt!

You will still need new mechs, new shifters, and an external wiring kit, not cheap by any means.

Realistically you should not consider upgrading, its simply not cost effective in most cases unless you wish to do something really custom. (stealth battery pack, custom shifting)
At the very least you would need front and rear mech, battery and loom including junction box. You would then have to build your own shift buttons which is not hard if you can solder.
I have seen shift button glued onto sram shifters and non di2 shimano shifters.
The prices of components seperately are generally quite expensive and in many cases it is more advisable to sell your current groupset as its desirable and buy a Di2 kit to replace it.
Also worth noting is there are differences between Ultegra Di2 and DuraAce Di2 and the components are not all interchangable.
If you have any specific questions feel free to ask and i will do my best to answer them as well as I can

forgot to say.. you will be looking at around 700 quid retail for the kit, or 300, 400 for one of ebay (ultegra) Dura Ace is still 1k retail

Sell your groupset and buy Ultegra Di2 imho

Thanks for the quick response even if it has scared me off doing it. To think i could have bought the bike Di2 enabled for an extra £200 at the time. Oh well.
It was just something i pondered today while out on a ride and my rear shifting was messy. Time to get it looked at i reckon.
Thanks for the help

Indeed you did. Rapid response too!
Yeah, I think V prowls the forum looking for the words Di2 and Ui2, then he pounces like some sort of electrikery superhero

Seriously though, what that guy doesn't know about it isn't worth a wazz!

Unfortunately the best time to buy Shimano electronic shifting is at the time of buying a bike
Sometimes ebay you can find what people believe are broken mech's which are great buys as most people are not aware that when crashed or dropped a protection circuit switches in. All that is usually required is a reset. Worth keeping your eye out for these. Then all you would need is a battery which you could get of me or any radio control model shop, or build your own battery pack with the correct voltages etc.. Then make your own shift buttons or ask me to point you in the right direction, the looms are cheap

Is there an easy way to reset them? The last sportive I did I was talking to a chap that had borrowed his brothers high spec roubaix and after hitting a pothole it stopped working.

Is a roadside reset possible? He had to finish the last 15 miles with just the 34/50 to select gears.

CRASH FEATURE
The rear derailleur has a built-in protection feature to help in case of a crash. During an impact, the connection between the solenoid and the parallelogram opens, and the rear derailleur will no longer operate. This is designed to protect the system, for example, when the bicycle falls over. To reset the system, press the button on the handlebar switch (SM-EW79A) for at least five seconds to re-connect the solenoid to the parallelogram. Double check the shifting and fine tune the derailleur, using the shift adjust mode as necessary.
