And I'm not sure why this would make you more disillusioned - Di Luca is a known cheat already. It's not like he's someone we were sure was clean who turned out dirty.

Glad to see the back of him. Suspiscion always was around, and having been given two chances, he just couldn't leave it, so goodbye. He'll probably turn up and "win" some Gran Fondo/Sportives in Italy. About time some proper testing was started in them as well, some of the outcomes would be more than interesting.

The team maanager is furious, not just with Di Luca but with the sponsors who apparently insisted on him being in the team:

"Danilo Di Luca was not part of our group, was not wanted by the team and was inserted into our set-up by our main sponsor Valentino Sciotti, who out of friendship and regional ties to the rider, insisted upon and created the conditions for his addition to the roster," team manager Angelo Citracca said in a press release.

i am becoming very disalusioned with pro cycling.

Given that this came as no surprise to anybody, you shouldn't let it change your views. Same if Scarponi, Visconti etc. go the same way.

There will always be cheats in any sport. I always welcome positive tests because at least some of the cheats are being caught. It's far worse to watch sportstars you don't believe in get away with it.

Puzzle game procrastinator!
I was laughing at Di Luca's half-hearted 'killer' antics the other day. A mate and I were wondering if anybody would give us good odds on him being busted again this year!

Totally agree, glad the cheats are being caught now and the ones that are being caught are hardly surprising.

So why are these cheats allowed back into the pro peloton.Sky removed members of their team with alleged/ known record of using banned substances and were criticized for doing so by some.I don't know much about the procedures used in drug testing but I understand it was an out of competition test nor when the test took place. It sometimes seems to be a slow process that allows a rider to complete 18 stages.

The short answer is legalities. Any athlete has rights and so before you accuse you have to be sure (especially as most assume that someone is guilty until proved innocent) and have to be able to demonstrate a watertight process.

Di Luca was allowed back after his second offence because he provided information to the authorities - a plea bargain in effect.

The Sky approach is polemic. Banning riders for life or refusing them employment after a single offence leaves no room for rehabilitation or for the plea-bargain arrangement.

I'm of the belief that EPO is generally used out of competition and with his history, this is why they would test him out of competition.

How crap.
