Pete, take a photo if they're still there, give me a trio up memory lane.
I know we've both signed the Official Secrets Act so I'll see what I can do :okay:

300km a week through London on a road bike.
I know all about restoration. I bought an old Moto Guzzi Cardellino in bits from the UK. I put a bid on e.bay in the spur of the moment and found out I won it for pennies. I then had to fly to the UK and bring it back to Denmark on the ferry. I then found out how rare it was and how difficult it is to get parts. Do your research first. I sourced parts all over the world and after 3 years of stopping and starting I finished it, This included 2 trips to Italy to find parts. I could easily have bought a new motorbike for the price it cost me. But you couldnt pay for the satisfaction I got out of it.

I refurbished a delivery bike last year (there's a thread on here) and it cost me peanuts really. The handlebar gubbins and brake thingies may not be as far gone as you imagine and may just need time and effort on them. That said, I did spend many hours on it, so if it's a paid job the cost will stack up. If things are far gone I can't help, my experience doesn't stretch that far.
Do please post photos though, we all like photos.

I definitely will post pics when he picks it up. I've been trying to get my head round the rod brakes in the last coupla days, am i right in thinking the extra length needed for the small front wheel is on the stirrup?
As to costs, the owner has been quoted a ball park figure for labour only so far, paint and parts will be extra. I don't know what his upper limit will be but i hope for my friend's sake he's got deep pockets

Edit: @Tail End Charlie I've already looked through your resto thread, your bike was way worse than this one originally so that gives me some hope!

It's being picked up tomorrow then we can really see what's what, but seeing these photos on my laptop rather than a phone I don't actually think it looks too bad!
